This site is dedicated to all things Nosferatu, the classic 1922 movie that is regarded as THE first vampire movie (Although Dr. Calagari is regarded by many as the first). In my opinion, it is also the best one ever made.
Even 80 years after the film’s release, it still continues to amaze, entrance and most definitely creep people out. Whether these people are new viewers or seasoned veterans of this movie, Nosferatu continues to endure. I feel this site is just one more way of continuing it’s legacy.
There are many reasons this film continues to be noteworthy. For one thing it boasted many firsts, including being the first film to widely use the stop-motion technique, and also to my knowledge, the first film to be shot entirely using real-life locations as opposed to a movie set.
F.W. Murnau, Nosferatu’s director, was a true pioneer in both these effects. He also delivers a chilling, evocative, romantic and ultimately unforgettable masterpiece that no other vampire, or in my opinion, any other horror movie ever made has matched.
Please look at my Synopsis of the movie for a total scene by scene breakdown and review of the movie. It includes many stills from the movie as well a couple of video clips.
Whether you are a hardcore horror/vampire fan, a casual viewer of the same or even new to the genre, I highly recommend you go to your local video store and rent it. You will not regret it. Nor ever look at the Vampire the same way again.
